Exporting your music from Rekordbox to a USB is essential for DJing on CDJs or other compatible hardware. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Format Your USB (Optional but Recommended)
Before exporting, ensure your USB is formatted to FAT32 or exFAT for maximum compatibility with Pioneer gear.
- Windows:
- Open File Explorer, right-click your USB drive, and select Format.
- Choose FAT32 or exFAT and click Start.
- Mac:
- Open Disk Utility, select your USB, and click Erase.
- Choose FAT32 (MS-DOS) or exFAT, then click Erase.
Step 2: Insert USB and Open Rekordbox
- Plug your USB into your computer.
- Open Rekordbox and switch to Export Mode (if you’re in Performance Mode, click the “Export” button at the top left).
Step 3: Create and Organize Playlists (Optional)
- If you haven’t already, create playlists in Rekordbox to organize your tracks.
Step 4: Export Your Music to USB
- In Rekordbox, locate your USB under Devices (on the left panel).
- Drag and drop playlists, tracks, or crates onto the USB drive.
- Alternatively, right-click a playlist or track and select Export to [USB Name].
Step 5: Wait for Export to Complete
- Rekordbox will analyze and process the files (especially if you’re using Rekordbox DJ for beat grids, cue points, and waveforms).
- Once the transfer is finished, safely eject your USB before unplugging it.
Step 6: Test on CDJs or Controllers
- Plug the USB into your CDJs or compatible hardware to ensure everything loads properly.
